MAIN STREET STATION

Richmond’s iconic 1901 Main Street Station served as one of the primary rail hubs in the Mid-Atlantic region for over eighty years. The new Station Master Plan provides a vision for the revitalization of the entire site and its historic structures. Reintroduction of passenger rail service at the platform level of the historic shed will return this national historic landmark to its role as Richmond’s premiere multi-modal transportation resource with access to high speed rail, light rail, taxi and bus routes, and provide pedestrian connections to the historic sites of Richmond’s Downtown. Planned ancillary uses include food markets, restaurants and cultural attractions. The adjacent Farmers’ Market will expand into the adjoining site to become a year-round regional market.
