Throughout this year, we have continued how we have given back to the community in the past, but also introduced our COVID Caring Initiative to respond to current needs that arise.
Society for Experiential Graphic Design (SEGD)
Our partnership with the Richmond chapter of SEGD is an opportunity for Acorn to promote society’s needs for accessible and inclusive built environments. SEGD is dedicated to improving the experience of connecting people to place and has over 2,200 members in 35 countries. By partnering closely with SEGD, we are able to help educate our community about how everyone can contribute to the greater goal of accessibility for all individuals. https://segd.org/
COVID Caring Initiative
The COVID-19 pandemic has impacted our societies in extreme ways, so Acorn has begun a COVID Caring Initiative to help give to those who have been hit hardest by the pandemic. This initiative includes a wide range of assistance, such as providing 6-feet apart decals to businesses; supplying outdoor signage for fire stations, hospitals, and police departments; working with local public schools and food banks to offer assistance; partnering with Meals on Wheels to deliver food to those who may be at high risk; and developing activities for kids at Children’s Hospitals.
Through this time, we are also working diligently to ensure that our employees feel safe and comfortable in our workplace. We are offering flexible options for working from home and are following CDC guidelines within our physical office. The health and safety of our employees and clients is crucial to how we are approaching the pandemic throughout our company.
Fauquier F.I.S.H.
Fauquier F.I.S.H. is a food bank in Warrenton, VA that our Manassas office has delivered food to as a part of our COVID Caring Initiative this year. Fauquier F.I.S.H. stands for “For Immediate Sympathetic Help” and provides food and other services for individuals and families in need. We are proud to donate food to help further their mission in serving our community. http://fauquierfish.org/
FeedMore
Our Richmond office contributes to local food banks as well, and last year, we donated over 220 pounds of food to FeedMore on Giving Tuesday. FeedMore serves 34 counties and cities throughout Central Virginia and through their programs and affiliates, they provide over 52,000 meals every day for those who are hungry. Our Richmond team enjoys contributing to the FeedMore mission for our community in Central Virginia. https://feedmore.org/
